Week in review
WATCH Saw Good One. It’s excellent; very subtle, beautiful, and cinematic. 10/10
Also re-watching Star Wars with my son. We will, of course, also watch the rest of the series together. I don’t believe the movies are *good*, but they’ve become indispensable.
Trying to watch fewer TV series: went through my Sonarr, removed most of it. Still, this week had season finales of Dexter: Resurrection (there’s just something to Michael C. Hall’s performance in this role), and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (best Trek of the current era, though I think I’m losing appetite for most of it).
READ Read Benjamín Labatut’s When We Cease to Understand the World, in Russian translation. An earlier note on reading the translation, in Russian.
TECH After an iPad-mediated transgression, my son had a gadget-free week; the first of many. I, too, have reconsidered my doom-scrolling, and banned Reddit for myself. I think that was the last website I frequented that has an engagement-focused algorithmic feed. Those things need to die.
First full week of writing into this blooooog. It’s not yet public, though. I plan to set up an RSS feed and single-note pages over the weekend. Expect a rant.
